Jalpaiguri circuit bench - Foundation stone laid

On the 1st day of September 2012, the Foundation stone for the Jalpaiguri Circuit Bench was laid by Hon'ble Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamta Banerjee and the Chief Justice of the Hon'ble High Court of Calcutta Justice J N Patel.

A total 40 acres has been sanctioned for the proposed complex of the Jalpaiguri Circuit Bench at Paharpur, about 1.5 km away from the city of Jalpaiguri.

Justice Patel speaking at the function said the laying of the foundation was the first step to reach speedy justice to the people of north Bengal.

The Jalpaiguri Circuit Bench shall pave an accessible way to the people of five districts of North Bengal falling under the Jalpaiguri Division (Alipurduar, Cooch Behar, Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri and Kalimpong) to begin with and would be extended to the three districts of Malda division (North Dinajpur, South Dinajpur and Malda).
